Just came back from digging..

Post by whyse0ne »

.. I found a spot right down the street from my work that has a huge .50 cent rack. Give it up for budget producing.. haha.. I love the .50 cent rack.

records I bought:

the sould of spain: 101 strings
10cc: the original soundtrack
Zubian Mehta: Conducts suites from star wars and close encounters of the thurd kind
Surface (this record is so cheezy I like it)
Shadowfax (this some weird shit)
Toto: IV
Toto: Toto

I already started a beat with the shadowfax record.. you can peep my progress on the myspace profile.

ah, off to bed, night all.

toto did the soundtrack to DUNE i fink, which is super weird, so that's pro'lly a good find, and 10cc have a couple of tremendous drum breaks.

yeah, props on the dollar (and less!) racks.

I have a couple shadowfax records and have seen a lot of different ones out there. The name always reminds me of Dj Frantic's click Shadowfacts.

yo! I actually just saw that on his myspace music page last night, and was like wtf? I've never heard of shadowfax until I bought that record, I'll be looking for more. I have sampled the sh*t out of the one I bought, and there is a track on the record that already sounds like a hiphop beat. Crazy.

Yo frantic, if you read this, is that where your crew got its name?

There was this thing today in one nice old neighbourhood with lot's of yard sales going on. Walked around but couldn't find much but this one LP. The Sounds Of The Office by Michael Siegel (Folkways Records 1964). That's some office sounds recorded on one day in some office. It's from the 60's so there's no fax machines, internet porn sounds or anything like that. Maybe I'll make something of the sounds one day.. official beatz vol 1

ahah, that's strange. It's just sounds of people shuffling papers around? Maybe some coffee being made? Sounds interesting, I'd love to hear something.

I was thinking of going digging today, I need something to do while I work off this hangover

Haha you guessed it. There's coffee being made - and paper sounds too. Opening envelopes, phones ringing, typewriters etc.. strange stuff for sure.

that's awesome. i like stuff on folkways. i have a track that i mixed a "fax" sound into. surprisingly percussive and it cuts thru the mix like a bandsaw.
