"let me in"-new beat..

Post by adru »

yo if anyones got a free two minutes or 3 to wait for this to download,i'd really like to see what you think of this..my ears are shot and everything sounds like shit at this point.i think i might need to turn the kicks down some and maybe boost the mids/highs slightly.havent tracked it out yet either-i'm trying to get a midi-cappable interface next week before i do any more sepperating of tracks.tracking by ear can be mad frustrating when everything needs to match up precise and you work for hours just to get some decent swing going on the machine.still,i got reaper the other day-that shit is so dope, the plug ins are really ill-this is the first beat i've ever put like 4 or 5 plug ins on,now i know why everybodys sound quality is always so much fuller than mine.welcome to the new millinium right?

no man, shit sounds good! that beat is fire and the mix sounds dope on my system. maybe you're right on the highs but just on the hats. Did you used a compressor to the main mix? Is it a software comp? sounds good...

The bass is just "the bass in the sample"? How did you get it so full without changing the "colour" of the sample??? Shit always sounds muddy if I would raise the lows on a sample to get more bass outta it...?!

Which reaper version did you used and what were the main operations you did? Do you have a straight outta the box file to see the difference? That would be really cool... I have to get on that mixing shit, too... :|

yea drew if you feel like doing that its cool..and its actually for a friend of mine sankofa to spit to-as most of the beats ive posted the last couple months on here will be..he was actually featured in the latest urb magazine next 100-so i want the joints i give him to be as nice as possible .wax-actually the song itself (a track off of aretha franklins "young, gifted and black"-i forget the exact title.."long winding road"?) had some really heavy bass already-usually when i use the bass in the song i'll seperate the mids/highs and lows on isolater, and then resample them together with the mid/high volumes 10 or 15 notches below the bass.i didnt even do that on this though-i just increased the lows on the reaper.i'm actually not sure which version of reaper it is,and i actually just got a 30 day trial,i think..its super dope though, and really simple.i might even be willing to pay for it,lol..i used like 3 eq plug ins and a compresser-all just basic pre-sets-but i usually compress the shit out of my samples & drums a little in the machine too.thanks a lot guys,i really appreciate it.i'm gonna check out some beats on here when i get to a decent connection.peace

yea man-its really good for jazz samples that have dope basslines but just arent loud enough in the mix beatwise..oh,i also put subsonic under the kicks on this beat for the first time.put em on a few different piches-thats shits perfect if your not adding any of your own bass to the beat.definitely not ground breaking techniques, but i'm learning more everyday.

oh by the way wax-i still havent gotten that winrar-but i promise i'll get that cd to you sooner or later-i really gotta try and get my own personal net connction at the crib.
