I cannot seem to the output volume higher then what the recorded level initially is... (this is following the instruction manuals directions). I've tried everything including boosting the overall input and output levels.
any ideas?
thanks for you replies.

Yo I'm not sure if it's that you're looking for but you can change the output level of the 404 from -3db up to +12 db by

holding cancel + start/end/level and twiddling with ctrl 3

Hey D.W... thanks for taking the time. I've done all of what the "good book" says and it's no use. What the real question is is: is it possible to boost volumes ABOVE what the initial input volume is??

If the answer to this question is "yes' then I've got a problem in the machine.

hmmm... :?:
I think it isn't possible to raise the INPUT level... but I'm not sure.
( but it's possible with the mic. )

Just try to raise the output volume of the gear you are recording from.

...that's all I know...

whenever I've needed to boost it, I sometimes use isolator...default is set for flat, so, if you turn the knobs right of center, that should give you increased gain output on that sample.

Try it and party hard!!!
