sorry for all these noob q's.
im going to be using differentc cards for our band and a side project, pands bear/mgmt/of montreal type stuff....
if i'm going to be switching cards, and sometimes live, whats the deal with assigning different cards to pads...does the machine remember which cards are which and their configuration and just automatically put the samples back in place of the previous card's?

Yes it does.. Just remember to turn off your 404 before you eject/insert a card. If you don't it sometimes freaks the fuck out for a bit.

Actually I think I might have misread your question..

Umm... the 404 keeps everything as it was on each card. so you can set up all 8 banks on a card how you like it with the samples where you want them etc. and then next time you put the card in, it will be the same... is that what you wanted to know?

yeah, i think so..
i just wanted to know that if i had say violin assigned to bank c pad 1 on memory card A...and cowbell assigned to bank c pad 1 on memory card B, if i was to turn the machine off in the middle of a show and swap memory cards then it would automatically play either violin or cowbell, depending which card i put in. basically that it remembers the different samples and their pad assignments between cards....
