whats up sp users, me once again . My question is how do I transfer my patterns into the computer? I have a few beats on bank B hence I don't use the memory card.

Hi.
You cannot save patterns for use in another program. If you had a memory card, you can create a backup folder and save that on pc or move the pattern to a card bank and save the pattern file off the card.

I think the patterns must be similar to midi files, but they're probably not in standard midi file format - they have a .bin file extension whereas Midi files are .mid. Unlike midi files, the pattern files probably use pad and bank numbers instead of midi note numbers,

A program to convert the 404 patterns to or from midi is probably possible, but I don't know if one exists - yet!

Probably the easiest way to save a pattern to computer is to record it via a soundcard to an audio track in a recording program. you can cut it down so the recorded file is only the length of one pattern. Something free like Audacity will do that. When you save it, make sure the file name includes the BPM for future reference.

I see, thanks for the tips. But their's no easier way to just use a midi converter, and run it into a PC and load your songs? I see alot of sp-404 users with beats on their myspace, I thought it would be a brezze to do

recording beats into audacity (or a similar program) is pretty easy man. once it's set up you hit record in the software then play your joints as usual. in audacity, you can then export the track to wav or mp3 or aiff.

yeah it's nice cause it's simple (compared to something like cubase) and free. if you're on a pc crystal audio engine is supposed to be dope as well.
