but you can completely master/seperate tracks onboard on the 606 right?assuming you put all the drum sounds on one track,maybe bass on another,and the samples on the rest?i'm trying to AVOID using software as much as possible.i've been tracking on acid for only a month or so,and already just looking at soundwaves on a screen pisses me off,lol..if i could just record my beat on to software straight from the machine,put my vocals over it and have everything be on point-i would be a happy man..
and i'm assuming the learning curve would be next to nothing going from the 404 to the 606?i wanna get something new for my next album,which i'm trying to have done by october..i really wouldnt have time to learn a whole bunch of new shit.

I am a former 303 user and still am sometimes, and the 606 is easy to learn.
If you know that machine then it is a breeze. I bought mine for about 300.00 bucks refurbished and it is practically new. I am the same way when it comes to software I am just not into it that much. But I wouldnt mind using the 606 with reason that would be some powerful shit.

am i right about the mastering/tracking.... & bouncing tracks if polyphony becomes an issue though?

the mastering applies to every track but there is always the resample. I still have the 303 so say I got some banging drums that uses alot of polyphony I master that then sample the drums into the 303 then back into the 606 as one pad.

Yeah, coming from a 303 you can't really go wrong on the 606 in my opinion. You probably feel right at home anyways and as far as the polyphony goes you should indeed be able to work around this by resampling / externally merging sounds / tracks.

Some time ago I've tracked 2 tracks into a DAW and back into the 606 again just to get even more room, worked fine. It would be as if you'd sampled it.

I'm pretty sure the SP-606 has the most bang for bucks (compared with for example the MPC1000), on the other hand if you intend to go for an MPC, don't go for the cheaper MPC500, but go for the 1K instead.
