only way to resample a pattern is to reccord to something like a tape or a cpu and then load it back onto the sp. the sequencer function gets "locked" out when sampling. and u cant name banks unfortunately. it would be sweet though

Of course it doesn't help anybody here saying this, but if someone would hack the OS it would be possible. After all the code to enter a name already exists and the padbanks name is also just a variable.

Damn, it's too bad I can't quite figure out how to do this myself, as there are more of these 'little' things that would be great to have added to the SP-606 OS.

Offtopic(!)
Hello again to everyone...i liked the idea of the "new OS"...if only someone could organize a new thread and send it to Roland...bytheway I send e-mail to cakewalk for unlocking the P606 but the answer from tech support was : "There are no plans to re-develope P606. There may be plans in the future to release another software/hardware package like P606, but I have no details on those products." (6 months ago)

Sounds nice, I hope they'll make a P707 then. :)

If you use the digital recording method, it's as good as resampling patterns

this should have been a hardware feature though..

This is exactly what the EXT SEQ Sampling function is, but only loops made with the software can sampled, not internal sounds. Pretty much any DAW can record patterns from the sp, though.

The 606, as many of us have been saying, was made for software integration. The P606 software adds a lot of the "missing" and sought after features, but the biggest strength I have seen is its ability to be used with many other software apps. The hardware itself focuses on sound quality (perfect for live), and software allows you do transcend the limits of the sp. Remember, anything you do on a computer can be sampled to the sp via usb and vice versa.

word, i see... that would of been cool if it could resample patterns out-of-the-box, but then there would be no need for P606... thanks for the info, peace...

I still reckon INT SEQ SAMPLING should have been included. If it can grab an external esauence so easily, an internal one should be even easier...

As far as the 606 being an 'upgrade' for the 808, not true. No SP is an upgrade to any other SP, really... they are all 'sidegrades'..... hehe

I totally see your side, and agree. It can resample, so why not internal sequence sampling?

It all comes down to marketing. Want Int Sequence sampling? Just another $400!!

That's why they're called 'prosumer' products.... they want us to become professional consumers...
