hey guys ive read through the manual and i cant seem to do what i want to do with the 404.

I want to play a beat from my mpc into the 404 and have it record what ive played into a pad and keep looping while i add new layers and sounds to other pads. But the 404 doesnt seem to make a seamless loop very well...

Does the 404 have an auto bpm feature?

Cheers!

Well, it's tricky since you have to time it just right when using the mark button. It helps to make 1 bar loops rather than long samples but after a while you'll get better, unfortunately the 404 kinda has a brutal learning curve. I'd say I couldn't get a sample or loop the way I liked for a whole year when I bought my 303.

kidkonkrete - the 404 has a feature where you can set the BPM of the sample before you record in
this helps because it automatically sets the Mark point to the loop end if you hit Rec again a little too late

see p. 25 of the manual

Thanks Drew! ill check that out, the bpm kind of varies because im playing the beat live each time and then the recorded beat sets the bpm for anything that gets recorded over the top.
