step sequencer "tie" button

yo does anyone use the "tie" button thats available when useing the step sequencer???? ive never used it or can find any info on it n the manual so if someones got and ideal then please.... spill the beans!!!

I honestly have no idea what you are talking about here, it does not ring any bells, sorry.

Any ideas what this 'tie' button should do?

Hopefully it hooks up a proper tie knot while your doing your thing live at a club or house party. Maybe 606man knows, if he's around.

In step sequencers, a tie makes a note last for two (or more) steps.

For example if you use a sample with a long decay a tie will keep it from being immediately cut off on the next step.

It's mentioned (admittedly briefly) on page 56 of the manual. I guess Roland assumed most people already know what rests and ties are.

Good info, the word is new to me but not the concept. The sp-1200 had a feature like this. In the 303 I have to chop portions of a sample and sequence it to make it tie over.

good looks ppl. i nolonger need to curse you all... but now i must say that if you dont read this word six times before midnight the 6th pad of your sp will reproduce the "BROWN NOTE" everytime its pressed... enjoy

Tie as in musical notation tie... ahhh, off course. I definitely should have known that, but I'll blame it on not being a native English speaker. :lol:
