worst 10 days ever

Post by Hot Sauce »

i was in a crash last week. thankfully i was ok but i was staying at my friends house and we crashed when he was driving me home. he plays bass and had a free house for the week so we stocked up on the green and i brought down my shit.

i had just got and MPC1000 and a dave smith mono evolver desktop. and when i say i just got them i mean that the day we went down to the house i had just got them in the post that morning. i also brought down my SP-404, my microkorg, my alesis micron, 1 turntable, 1 mixer and a bunch of records. we made music for a couple of days and it was crazy ill.

i mean i haven't seen him in so long because he is going to uni in another country so it was just nice to be making music with somebody you know so well. but then on the drive home we were on a tight road and had to swerve to miss a truck. we went into the ditch and the car behind us followed us in and almost crushed our car.

he was knocked out but i was fine. it was real hectic.

he's just out of hospital now and thank god is fine. but i had all my gear in the car and most of it in the trunk.

all my gear was crushed. my MPC. my turntable. my microkorg and my mono evolver. i didn't even get a chance to use the MPC or the mono evolver.

i lost about 50 records as well. the just all cracked and shit.

the only things i have left are my micron and my 404.

im so glad and thankful that me and my friend are ok but its just a real bummer that most of my gear gets destroyed. insurance aint covering it because i had nothing insured and the online store won't cover me.
bad news indeed.

its almost 2k worth of gear busted but at least im alive and safe which is something.

crazy times.

damn, man. that's terrible. i mean: as you say, its great you are (both?) okay, but it really is unfortunate about the gear.

hope yr both healing.

that blows. Good to hear you are ok tho. My co-worker got smashed right outside the job. Both walked away with bruises, but the cars were totaled. He was kinda frazzled for a bit, that adrenaline starts flowing... the human self check routine starts... like, "I'm ok, yeah.. I'm ok." (repeat). All the boxes with buttons, ultimately replaceable... but I feel ya.

let's start a circuit bending club.
just those broken gears and rebuild 'em 8)

when i totaled my dad's car i had just started driving. i asked my dad "aren't you glad i'm ok?"
he said,
"i see you're ok, what i'm worried about is the car."

i was goin' a little fast on a back road and i went straight into a tree across the road, over a ditch. i was in shitsville for a while but i walked away relatively unharmed. point is, glad YOU are ok.

Good that you're OK, but man I'd be so pissed off if 2Ks worth of gear got crushed.

well ive had the microkorg and the micron for a while now and although the microkorg is no more there is no doubt in my mind that the micron is the superior synth. the microkorg is easier to program and the micron can be pretty cumbersome because 1 knob basically does everything but there are some shortcuts and when you start to delve into the synth then you see how powerful it can be. the microkorg is still dope tho but after having owned both i have to say the micron is my personal fav.

the microkorg seems to have a bit of a rep in the hip-hop world and maybe that has helped it. in fact on other production related sites i often see microkorgs, probably one of the most popular pieces of gear. i don't know if i will replace my microkorg. it's a nice keyboard but i think i would just get the blue electribe EMX or something.
