resampling a sample with FX

I want to resample a pad with a FX. As I follow what the manual says, the smpling button just doesn't start blinking when it should. What am I doing wrong?
Some help on this would be really appreciated.

re-sampling with fx....you can use the loop capture, that's a fast way. but you can't change the level of the re-sample(maybe by turning down the volume?). try that first. or doing it the other way will be the best quality. press the pad you want to re-sample-press re-sample- now press the pad you want to re-sample and use the control 3 nob for getting the level right- now press sample- then press the pad you want the re-sample to go to-press sample-press the pad you are re-sampling-and when the sound stops playing press sampling.

Yeah I know I can loop capture... why they limited it to only 15 seconds?
I managed to resample with FX but

... I really don't know the succession of pressed buttons that make the thing going.
I just keep on forgeting that sampling = recording... probably because there is no red LED blinking... every time I sit down with this machine it just blows me away.
