Applying effects while recording a pattern

I know how to apply an effect to a sample while recording a pattern, however, the state of the effect appears to be fixed. Is there a way to adjust/manipulate the effect while recording a pattern?

you can't record to a pad while a pattern is playing, can you?
i'm not sure your question

You can't record effect settings in a pattern.
