Ahem...
I'll up to remember you all I actually started a SP software companion.
Ive uploaded the software on the 404 forum..it is working and free for you to download.
Ive given up developpement on it since there was not much feedback.
Today it is a chromatic Pitch Shifter (+/- 1 octave) for exported wav files. It is simple fast, reliable and hopefully intuitive.
I could have implemented timestretch, PS without affecting length, pattern copy...it is easily feasible !
Now You ask...I do it
You don't ask...I don't
The SP software IS out there, without the help of roland.
I did that, and published the 'flyin lotus' and the mute trick on youtube. I did it because I believe community is the way to go : help others and get better together.
Off course, some things is hardly possible without the help of Roland : hack the sample and pattern proprietary format, for example. But most of what was asked then for the SP software companion is possible with a few line of VB (or java) script and some willing community.
I can get some of the code right... YOU do the rest.
peace
Alex

Respect for making the software thingy, but it's not actually what the Roland rep was talking about unless you add copying samples and patterns. That could be easily added and I guess it would be much appreciated by some users. For me it's easy enough to do it by hand (copying and renaming files)
...and maybe your software could have gotten more attention if the original topic was a bit more informative.
Hope I don't sound all negative coz I don't mean to. Everything you do for the 404 users is a bonus, be it software or a youtube vid or whatever.

Thanks guys, i'm happy to see some feedback...
To plexx : well the pattern copy thing is really easy and could be implemented, if some people find it useful. I'll check into it. Maybe a copy matrix ? (like being able to copy on B3 E12 and G6 at the same time)
real, good timestretch is only a few lines away too.
what would be the most useful to you guys ?

I think timestretch, but both would be cool. I can do either of these things on my comp already but having a little sp-series program taylor made is a really cool project. If you could use photoshop to make a sp-303 and a sp-404 skin for the program so the interface looks like the samplers that would be awesome.
