more than anyone else, Primo defines hip-hop for me. choppy samples, deep stabby basslines and hard drums, all served up with his trademark cuts on the hook
you always knew that if Premier produced a track on an album, it would have a special place in your heart (Second Childhood on Stillmatic, So Ghetto on Volume 3). before i was able to find production credits online, i used to get excited when i bought an album and saw C.Martin/Works of Mart listed in the publishing credits to a song. i was never disappointed
here's some of my favourite Premier moments:
Gangstarr - Work: for years this was my favourite beat, so simple yet so stylish

Royce 5'9" - Boom: classic Premier

Nas - Nas Is Like

original sample:

apparently that's bird chirps getting used in the intro to the beat
J-Live - The Best Part: sounds like a gamelan or something sampled here

Termanology - Watch How It Go Down: a more recent track, proving that he's still got it

and to finish with, of course Gang Starr - Full Clip:

there's countless more classic beats i haven't mentioned (stuff from Illmatic, his work with BIG, MOP etc) but i was hoping you guys could add on, highlighting your own favourite Premier beats
let's show our appreciation
peace
