Hot vinyl:
The Plastic Cow Says: MOOG!

If you can find this album, it's HOT...

Also, The Electric Eclectics of Dick Hyman...many a song sampled from that one...

What you guys need to understand is that the Linndrum II is not an MPC copy...but a next level drum machine. In the analog edition, you are getting a full blown synth..."Four complex analog voices based on the same Curtis-chip synth voices used in the highly-aclaimed Prophet '08 and Evolver keyboards."

That LDII does look sick. We definitely need more companies putting out new quality hardware. It's good to have options... expandability... and that new, fresh-out-the-box feel you can't find on eBay.

perhaps it's laughable BUT,
there is some pretty decent stuff that i might have to get instead: especially the tenori-on. this thing is a sequencer, sampler, synth, midi-controller. and it's made of magnesium(?), or metal for sure. i mean i really dig the LD2 idea but maybe it's not moving in the right direction.
one things for sure, i'd like to see the ld2 move forward before all hope is lost. linn and smith are guru but i wonder what's takin' 'em so long.

Tenori-on is super nice for live shows in a club. Drunk/high people love flashing lights.

Hahaha, it's pretty insane indeed, but I haven't quite seen actual songs made on it other than all these funky electro tiny tutorial demo things showcasing some features.

Like this one; http://tenori-on.yamaha-europe.com/uk/m ... ceMode.mov

Pretty crazy stuff, but I wonder if it would make for a nice device to make hip-hop or other style music than this bleeping electro. :)

IMO the tenori is gimmicky and for rich performers who can afford to splash the cash (i guess it can be argued that most high end gear such as the synths by moog and dave smith and the drum machines from elektron and jomox fall into the same category).

in regards to the linndrumII. the fact is the it WILL NOT revolutionise the sampler market. if anything something like ableton Live has already done that. it probably is the best sampler in the market at the moment and it's insane for live shows too.

but that's in the software realm. when we talk about the hardware realm then not a lot more can be done to innovate the medium. if you look at something like the elektron machinedrum which was hailed as great you will see (ive used one for a while) that its greatest feature is it's workflow and ease of use. i think that is maybe the area where the linndrumII would (should) be best put to use.

hopefully the will make the interface super-friendly. the synth engine built in is obviously super fly too.

all in all im looking at this device a bit more optimistically.
in other words i can't wait until it drops.

If the tenori on got upgraded to a decent sample capacity it would be more than a gimmick, and certainly more 'revolutionary' than this imaginary rehash this thread is about. At least it's actually different from other kit.

This thread is a good example of 'hype'. Four pages of speculation about something that doesn't exist. There's not one thing this LinnDrum can do that can't already be done in other ways.

Sampling Drum machine? We already have one, thanks.
Analogue Synth? Got one of those too. And even if you don't, you can get one for far less than $1800.
FX? Everybody in the world has all the FX they need by now.
Sequencer? Even the free ones will beat this thing for features and functions.

So, my point is; most people already have most of the features this thing is offering in other pieces. It's very easy to knock out analogue drums on a SH and load them into an SP for sequencing. So the LinnDrum is gonna have to be 'Abelton Good' to make a dent in the market.

I agree with 606man, I just hope that the LinnDrum is like ableton live with a full dj friendly tactile interface.
