Panning

How - if possible - do you pan samples on the 404?

Been through the manual and can't see any info on this.

I suppose the only way around it is to sample the sounds panned at source - but this seems like a rather clunky way around this.

Surely the 404 can do such a simple thing and i'm just missing it?

Nope, no panning. Just apply the tremelo/pan effect and make the pan slow and wide, then resample the sound and use the mark button to isolate the sound when it's panned to whatever side you want and you got a panned sound.

Try ableton live I hear you can sleep during a set and it keeps playing, almost like you were never there. Rawsome

ah, give him a break. i think a lot of us would like more convenient methods of panning and track muting.

but i believe dr sample had it right when he said that it wouldnt be a wise financial decision on Roland/Boss's part to give us a machine with all the functions we could ever dream of.

maybe one day they will give us some sort of godly SP with everything any of us could ever think of, but until then we gotta stick with the fun shit they do give us to play with.

I guess I was harsh, but you're using a sampler that's inexpensive and utilizes "dated" technology not a multitrack program or "professional" sampler. I've never purchased a new piece of equipment without fully researching it's functions before hand.

and i think part of the SP fun is figuring out work arounds...the fun being in the production process.

And for the record - I did research the SP s capabilities before I bought it, downloaded the manual and read it through etc, but being able to pan samples in the sound field? - that is the most basic shit ever, not a function of a "professional" sampler, it's not like I was asking "how do I set up Keygroups?"

I've read this forum for a while now and found you DR Sample 303 to be an informative and knowledgable guy on these machines, I guess you got up on the wrong side of the bed this morning or something

And you had to tell me how to do it because its a weird (and clunky - like i said i'm my original post) way for any machine to handle panning, i'm new to this way of working - and this is an online forum where people go to ask questions from other forum members about 'tips and tricks' no?
