I've been trying to avoid PC for music for some time, but since Sonar LE
came with SP-555 I installed it to see how it looks.
As my laptop (IBM think pad R30--- P3 1Ghz) only have onboard soundcard I've tryed USB cable and use SP-555 as audio interface.
I like it a lot. I did some recordings from D2 groovebox to SP-555 and than via USB recorded to Sonar LE... so far so good.
Now I want to play my midi keyboard and use a VSTi synth that came with sonar. Can I do it with SP-555? Can 555 be used as MIDI interface?
I want to connect my yamaha cbx midi keyboard to SP555 and play/record softsynth in Sonar, is this possible?
It could be in the manual but it is not by the hand right now.
regards, crumb

Thanks flux
I feel much better knowing it is possible.
When I connected 555 to sonar I was surprised to see I could controll some knobs on that VSTi with those 3 ctrl pots.
Truthfuly I don't have much time to dig into 555 latlely, as my wife is working a lot so I have to babysit all the time...
... so taking shortcuts is necessity to me.
Thanks for help, respect

I dont think so. I havent explored it very deeply, but I hooked up my midi controller into the the midi in on live and tried to trigger a VSTi and it didnt work. I tried to do the same thing with my EPS and again it was a bust. Doesnt mean there isint a way..but it doesnt seem like it.

I've just solved my problem: playing my MIDI keyboard trough 555 via USB cable into Sonar LE using VSTi dream station synth.
Latency is around 500miliseconds. It is a lot, but at least it bloody works.
So we all triplefivers (did I said that first?) have USB-MIDI interface that can at the same time be an audio interface/external soundcard with FX... damn good machine
update: almost no latency...pheww
