Cool Neighbors

Post by Euclid Ov Oåklånd »

My next door neighbor designs and builds synths. I was talking to him today about helping me with a bad contact on my microkorg and I found out that he works with Dave Smith and Roger Linn pretty often. Awesome, hopefully he can help me master the microkorg since he performs in a live band too.

that's awesome. no wonder he can afford to live in the bay. if i ever go back to school it'll be electrical engineering so i can build noise makers. see if you can cop us a sp-forums discount on the new linndrum. =)

He said they needed programmers for the linndrum, but I don't know C+ and don't really have a desire to learn it. I'm more interested in the experimental electronic instruments he makes and uses. He has years of electronic music knowledge and a degree from Mills college where my mom teaches, which also happens to be where Dave Brubeck went to school for music.

Hi there, a little question... it doesn't happen to have been a bad contact that made the digits miss one of it's bars now wasn't it? My MicroKorg works fine, however the display lacks one of the bars of the digits... probably either a bad contact or a broken LED.

Yeah, it sounds like some dead lcd's in the display. On mine one of the keys doesn't work, I bought it hella cheap and used so I didn't expect much. It hasn't affected the playability of it but I liked to fix it if I can, it would be much more reassuring to open the case and mess with it if my neighbor's there.

Brubeck did study at Mills College... after he graduated from the same school as me... University of the Pacific, in Stocktown Cali. He always came back to play at alumni weekend events and shit. Definitely a cool cat on some other stuff musically.

That neighbor sounds cool as hell. I miss living up there...
