Hello all!
Tommy from the Netherlands here! I'm new on this forum, have been checking it out before, and decided to register. I own a 606 and a 505, mostly using the 606 now, though i couldn't bear to part with my trusty 505!
I was wondering, it seems like most sp-series owners use them for hip hop/dance sort of stuff, (which is fine;))
and I'm using my 606 in my new industrial/rock/metal project, and i must say it's doing very well for this type of music! (I've used it for breakcore as well.)
Especially the Amp Sim, the oscillator/enveloper synth, and the D-beam filter are brilliant for my needs.
(So if anyone's wondering.. i can recommend it for Industrial type stuff, or at least it works for me!)
Anyone else into this or a related genre of music??
I'd be happy to trade some tips!

Welcome to the forums man!
I'm definitely into these kinds of music, pretty cool that you are using the SP-606 for that.
In general I experiment a lot with different styles, but I haven't tried a say Linkin Park kind of thing just yet. Did you try something like that? I mean you're talking about metal/rock which is sample-based, right?
Anyways, I'd definitely like to hear your music if you've got something done and finished that you are satisfied with.
Cheers

*Welcome to the SP forums. Here we like to viciously argue about which SP is 'the best'. Then when the arguments really get going we break them up into sub-arguments about what is 'real hip hop', what hit producer used what, peppered with a bunch of personal attacks which devolve into complex replies like 'fuk u dog'.... wait that's a DIFFERENT forum....
The effects on the SP make it killer for dub-styles to!
Like putting something through one of the delays then squashing that delay with the D-Beam you get results that would be VERY difficult with software plugins! Try putting a voice through it!

Waddup man. Welcome to the forums! You should drop in on the arena sometime for a battle... would love to hear how you flip a sample.
I'm feeling what you have to say about the dub-steez. Playing with the delay and reverb settings always takes me into a dubbed out state of mind.

i'd love to hear some breakcore in The Arena
____
and +1 to hXc's post
i've got some great dubbiness out of my 404, the Tape Echo is amazing for it (especially on a snare you've Reverb'd the shit out of)
i love it

Thanks for the warm welcome guys! All i have to show from my breakcore stuff right now are these two crappy vids, 'twas about five in the morning and i was supposed to play 3 hours before that but everyone had to go first! So i got drunk. (Which is clearly visible.)

Too bad the video have such crappy audio. It's sounds like some pretty raw stuff too. If you mp3s up anywhere I'd like to hear em.
