I start loads of tracks but, alas, for some reason, something about the 303, or maybe the way I have to work these days, stops me from finishing anything. And, don't get me wrong, I love, love, LOVE my 303 and am not, for a change, considering changing it for something else because of my creative frustrations, like I have so many times before (as followers of this forum from the last 3 years will have witnessed).
The "quality" and self-satisfaction of my work has definitely gone down since I stopped toking and I 100% believe in that as an enhancement to creativity. I've promised to myself to take that up again as a "reward" for getting healthier (eating less crap, exercising more). Stuff just happens and ideas drop out of the ether as if by magic when you're mashed.
I've also started to think that the only reason I finish stuff for beat battles and nothing else is because I respond somehow to the limitation of having a set lot of samples...which is maybe why I get snarky when there's loads of material, lolz...instead of the literal whole world of music on Youtube. And, similarly, my favouriute stuff I made before I got into using SPs properly was done with the limitation, and more satisfying sampling experience, of sampling only from vinyl.
Up yer bumz.
