Firstly, thanks for U_J_F_R for the incredible sample pack! What a round, lots of good stuff submitted.

Asha C- Right out the gate with a rock solid beat. Really like how you used all those different samples so cohesively. Good use of effects, bass & drum loops to break this up too.

YEN - Weird! Therefore correct use of the cassette sim etc.

MITT - Did you post another beat before this one? Or am I going senile? Either way, this entry’s smooooth. Could listen to this on repeat for hours. I came pretty close to doing that, going by your Soundcloud page…

Kudos - Damn, you followed the brief to a tee! Got the nostalgic Goldman vibes, for sure. Killed it.

Chopperman - So one thing I almost never discuss online is how I’m a bit of a biology nerd on the side. The line about how the teeniest tortoise succeeded the stegosaurus floored me, that’s true & the kind of thing that melts my little brain. Also loved the chorus, found myself reflecting on that at random times at work. And the beat? Perfect for the rhymes, you locked it in like a pro.

Weatherman - Dramatic vibes & a nice change up. Alternative rock?! Ha!

Sleeps - Touring Shaolin! Gotta respect your mini tapes, the flow’s dope. 3rd (& 4th?) part(s?) is psychedelic with all those little drop ins & outs. The bit with Deck’s verse was nuts!

Raw - Ooooh damn that’s how to use the RnB samples. I tried flipping that on the 606 & ciouldn’t hit it anywhere near as hard you. What a bop! The change up for Prodigy verse? Pure class! The vibe of the beat in the Lord Quas bit was perfect. 4 minutes really well spent.

U_J_F_R - Best use of the voice grabs here. Nice beat tape, just zoned out pretty hard to it.

Sick round, SP fam! Seriously close pick between Chopperman & Raw. Settled on Chopperman because of biology.

Unfolding: Enjoyed the drum intro and overall vibe of this track. Some great energy and subtle use of samples, bass was sounding sweeeet! i enjoyed the 2nd track probably more than the first, the beat was slick and the rhythm of those bass hits kept it grinding along nicely. 3rd beat had a nice groove and use of samples, the guitar licks sounded great!

YEN: Warbley lofi, with the vinyl or cassette sim making me feel a little seasick. I found this beat a bit too intense, with the "help me" being so repetitive.

MIIT: Lofi sweet spot! I liked how the drums dropped in and out and the string samples coming in, giving it that cinematic feel. Sweet use of the samples (I think vibraphone particularly??). The groove caught me on this one too. the 1:12 caught me off guard but the slight kick ?mis-hit? gave it an old school cassette getting chewed effect, which i liked. Always a fan of reversed drums too that give it that BOC feel. Although it was repetitive, i could've listened a lot longer!

KUDOS: The lofi was a little too far with the high end for me throughout this one, to my ears a bit shrill. However, I did enjoy the way you used the samples and the effects use towards the end.

CHOPPERMAN: Loved the way you used the samples. Funky!!! Vocal worked well, enjoyed the rhymes and vocal delivery. There was something about the energy that stood out from your usual vocal delivery, which i think is the choice of rock/funk sample use.

WEATHERMAN: I enjoyed the drums and forboding held sample. I think i would have preferred this without the acapella, i think it would have had a more sinister vibe. Changeup was unexpected and changed the whole mood, from sinister to feel good summer.

SLEEPS NUMB: Rhythm took me a while to get into but nice use of the sidechaining type effect. Some of the samples that were in there seemed a bit random, but I guess that's the style? the changeup threw me a bit and seemed a bit messy but again i think that is probably the style youre going for with that shufled, off kilter rhythm? The last beat was another that had me feeling a bit seasick with the overly compressed sound and off kilter beat.

RUN RUN RAW: Funky little intro, nice use of the samples, bass came through sweet, another i would have preferred without the acapella. Kick came through the mix sweet too, again is this.a faux sidechain workaround?

UJFR: Something about the mix came through a bit harsh to my ears. The beat around 2 min mark had a great sinister atmosphere and enjoyed the use of the sample. Bass came through sweeet on this beat too.

Maaaan SOundlcoud seems to have gone overkill with the adverts!!been a whiel since ive been listening to stuff through it!

Difficult to decide.....My faves were Unfolding, Chopper and UFR 2 min mark beat. Overall though MIIT style appealed to me the most, as it often does, it always feels like the style i try and aim for but much more accomplished/polished. Good work all round

@asha c thanks for the feedback ! yeah i hesitated about not putting the vocals on it but did it anyways :p anybody else feels it would be better withoud the vocals ? and about the sidechain.. there isnt one on my sp's but u can make it do it by setting the compression verry hard on everything and then solo the kick and put the sample vol up bit by bit and u will hear the sidechain effect.. but i did some out of the box mixing aswell..some eq compression limiter

The scheme is to theme. 1:41 and that tom sound was absolutely banging. Your sample manipulation is uniquely yours and submitting tapes instead of 1 tracks always inspires me to try and keep up
RUN RAW - Dawgy, this dutchie donut goes from start to finish. The way you massaged those vocals, your perfect (in my ears) mix and the finishing additions sprinkled throughout. rnb resampled bass gets me every time. You are sooo (over)due to bless us with some of your harvezted sample packs. another legend. This might be my fav yet.
