Thanks for entering everyone. The forum is obviously a bit slow right now. I usually attribute that to summer, but reality must set in at some point. We are a small group of folk by now. Some magical goddess is paying to keep what we do here alive and it's awesome. Almost twenty years of sp-forums battles. I've been here 15+ years. I have not committed to something so much for that long. My life has moved on beyond many things but I can't help leave this place, I love the battles. I even love Zendan. Or Zindan. They might be two people at this point. They should have entered  I used to be all about moving battles forward quickly but I'm glad I just waited till we got a good number of entries. The beats are great! Y'all made some emotional atmospheric shit and I think I just dropped a clown circus that I regret. Maybe we are all just *getting old* and need more time. So maybe we push future battles to have a quota of entries before we post a poll. We have hit an impressive number with 365, there is no rush going forward in my opinion. Having more engagement seems to be a better choice to me.

Hey asha, you don't have to participate for voting. Every sp-forums-member can vote. Or do you come up with a beat?

Feel the need to chime in here a little bit...

IIIII you are not wrong. I have been here what, ten years? And even back then the Battles were a bit sketchy at times; there has always been a good amount of ebb and flow in participation.

But even by 2014 the "Discussion Forum" as an internet-phenomenon was on the way out, wasn't it? I'm old enough to remember between about 2003 and 2010, the Forum was the one place where niche-interests the world over could congregate. BookofFace strangled the life out of the best forums - by now, 2023, that anybody comes here at all, fighting competition from every other doom-scrolling-social-media-platform is a bit of miracle :)

Also, after 15-20 years of shared knowledge buried in these boards, there likely isn't a question under the sun about sp's that hasn't already been answered by someone somewhere, just look it up... what's left?! It's the Battles and a bit of banter!

At the end of it however, yeah, everyone gets older!
But a Forum is only as dead as you imagine it to be :D

When I arrived here 11 years ago, I was so happy to find an active community of sp-headz from all over the world. So many great artists, such good music, so much knowledge and wisdom and of course, real hip hop culture. It made me so happy being part of it. Gentlemen, think of all these dirty, crunchy beats and tunes written by sp-forums-members since the beginning... What I learned here is that you don't need much to make music! Above all, you don't need expensive equipment. It's all about being creative with what you have. Experiment! And when you dare to break free from the boundaries of your mind regarding production techniques, then you enter the sacred path to your own music and sonic character that comes form your heart. I found myself through this forum. And what inferior role does the a/d converter play in the end when everyone is feeling your vibe and nodding their heads? What does this teach us about life?
Sure, some ancient legends are gone, but we still have some new and old sp-bangerz here, rocking like there's no tomorrow! I hope this will never end! Looking forward to the 404th battle! Hail to the goddess of sp-sampling!

Hahaha @lllll i remember, when i wanted to register at this forum back then, i had to rethink my username, because it was already taken by you. :)

Voted for
Crane: nice drums, twisted the sample really well too! Liked the reverse and those filtered swirls!! Dark but also a Head nodder!

isihambi: nice! Liked the crunchy drums and use of samples, that little tape warble was nice, I presume a feature of the mkii? Melodic yet forboding beat! Loved it!

IIIII; i really enjoyed the ‘playfullness’ of this beat, very whimsical and pleasing in a strange way, i just loved how unusual it was for a battle!

Hi everyone!
voted for these 3 supersounds:
1. Crane
2. Isi9hambi
3. IIII

they are not in any relevance order :)

In any case i suggest for next battles that can be an idea to give to the beat other limitations as not using FX live recording and to remain fixed to the sequencer samples order.

Or on the opposite can be an idea for another contest to give samples to make a beat and see how people can manipulate it live using live FX and live samples playing.

Maybe are old ideas but i am not so old to the forum :)

Apologies. I had a crazy week and completely forgot about this. I was just trying to get the party started and not really expecting any votes so Isihambi and IIIII can collectively decide where to take it from here.

Thanks.
