Live 404 Rocking in The New York City

Post by Huph »

Hey friends,

I just wanted to let everybody know that my band (only 2 of us, actually) is playing this Friday night in New York City. I'll be rocking my usual setup: 404, Turntables, CDJ, and my boy will be providing the low end on the Bass guitar. We haven't played live in over six months, so we're really excited about the show. We wrote a bunch of new stuff--which is why I haven't been around here much lately. The new songs in particular involve a lot of live beat making on the 404. It's going to be really fun, I think any of you guys who kneel at the twin altars of the 303/404 would appreciate it. You can check out our music at our blog, of course.

The show's Friday May 9th at 10PM, we play at Midnite, at a little dive Tiki bar called Otto's Shrunken Head located way over on 14th Street and Avenue B. It's a free show, and the bar is usually a lot of fun on Fridays. Diverse crowd, cheap beer and liquor, fruity Tiki drinks and therefore a lot of ladies.

Come on out and say hello. We can talk shop about samplers over some beer. Latre.

juxt: I probably won't record the whole show, but maybe some parts. I'll definitely load something up if I do. I've actually been considering filming ourselves where we practice. We could get decent angles so people could clearly see my setup and the Bassist.

fauna: A few guitar parts are me playing. I've played guitar for many years, and use it to compose a lot. However, most of the tracks at the blog were conceived before I really had a good method to record my own guitar parts. So many of them are samples. Now, I've got a much better recording interface and mics, so I'm definitely going to use more of my own work in the future. I had kind of turned away from performing on the guitar--I never stopped playing--but I've recently been falling back in love with the instrument. I kind of wanted to exhaust my sample-based ideas before re-introducing the guitar.

However, all the Bass Guitar parts are played live by the Bassist.

Thanks for the compliments on the music, you guys! And as always, it means a lot coming from here, since there really is a lot of talent around here. I don't think anyone makes weak beats. And interestingly enough, it seems like most of us here have a style unique to each individual. We're (Hosey, that is) working on new music, we're going to play some at the show, and hopefully we'll have another release before the end of Summer.
