Per Kel:

No outside anything except your own vox and/or watermark, multiple sp allowed, outside eq/comp/mastering ok on final track… 7 days for the time limit.

>No outside anything
does this mean that samples have to be chopped on the SP or can they be chopped before putting them on the SP?

>multiple sp allowed
does this mean SP only? I assume MS-1 is probably fair game, but what about MPC?

Kel will decide as a host, but "yeah" on both of those, as in - yes it's custom to have everything done on SP (chopping included, though if it's chopping only I personally believe it makes no difference really, but like I said wait for the host's rule on it), and yes it does mean SP series only, so no MPCs or anything else

Damn i love these, gonna start chopping asap
Finally got these battles rolling weekly after all that fckn nonsense

 Thanks, that’s a pic of my dog Nitty. Looks like I got back in, thanks IIIII for starting the battle! I was going to vote antee on the last one.
@pazword, the MS-1 is fine if you don’t have access to an SP, no prob.

I’d like to leave out MPCs this round.

I was just fixing to use the MS-1 with a 303, but no problem for the MPC I can still use my rig without it.

But what is your verdict on chopping? Do it all on the SPs or are slices on PC okay?

EDIT: just found my 32mb so I can chop it all on the MS-1 8)

I'm very tempted to NOT use those drum samples at the end since there's a pretty good variety throughout

It's not as if you have to produce "Hip-Hop", these are "SP" battles not "Hip-Hop" battles. The type of track produced should therefore be the choice of the participant, and thankfully they are, but personally I think ALL of these SPBBs should STRICTLY uphold production of the participating track to an SP (with nothing else allowed other than to bounce if required).

I've never said it before, but the casual manner in which these so-called "SP" battles are handled makes me really only see them as a joke as well as a bit of fun. They are by no means a true representation of a persons skill with an SP (unless that is all they used). One of the things I always find amusing is when people ask if they can master their final track or use an external compressor, all that sort of thing.

In my opinion, the battles should be a bit of fun, but NOT a joke (there's a difference). When I do finally get to joining-in these battles, I will at least be able to say that my own beats were produced 100% start-to-finish on an SP.

Surely if I can manage that, everyone else can

Can I master in my DAW?
I'd say no you fuckin' can't, you can learn the art of mastering on your SP instead!

Can I use the compressor from my Fruity Studio?
I'd say no you fuckin' can't, you can use the compressor on your SP instead!

Can I EQ in my DAW?
I'd say no you fuckin' can't, you can use the EQ, Isolator and Filter on your SP instead!

Are you my Daddy?
Yes Zindan, I am your Daddy!

And just to be clear, I'm not having a go at anyone who asks these things, because at the end of the day I suppose the more people join-in these battles the more enjoyable they are. But you have to admit, that for an "SP" battle, the accepted rules have gotten so sloppy and relaxed now that you might as well barge in here with a KORG Nautilus and do it on that instead.

In short, Zindan, I think you had better question the validity of the equipment used, because THAT is the issue here in these so-called "SP" battles. Whether the track produced is "Hip-Hop" or not is completely irrelevant, because there's no rule we need to produce or even like "Hip-Hop". The only thing that should be relevant in an "SP" battle is whether the track was actually produced completely on an SP.
