A Musical Genre I've Fallen in Love With:

Post by SP-USER »

I just wanted to share this album with you. Not just because I really like the album and the artist, but the genre, too. The genre is known as "Japanese City Pop" often just referred to as "City Pop". I've read that it's the sort of thing you would most likely hear playing in 80s Tokyo Restaurants etc, and that it was especially popular with the high-fliers of 80s Japan.

I absolutely love this genre, and this artist, Momoko Kikuchi has instantly become a favourite of mine, I absolutely love her voice!

I had this album on repeat literally all day long, running it throught the SP-808 effects when I was testing it, and never tired of listening to it. It's just one of those albums where literally every track is a good one, all very laid-back, classy sounding, chilled and very 80s!

I had waaaaaaaaay too much fun putting this album through the SP-808 EQ and Enhancer and am currently enjoying getting lost in the vast rabbit hole of 'Japanese City Pop' that is out there.

Will definitely be picking this album up on Vinyl, cannot get enough of it:

Yeah but it's not got Momoko's soft voice and it's missing all the lovely FM sound goodness that this City Pop album has in abundance! It's that combination, along with quality production, that makes this album glisten and sound classy!

I'm getting regular opsix-sized erections just thinking about it!

Sorry bro, interesting samples you put up but I'm not joining-in the battle this time (for the same reasons I pointed out to Girru). But who knows, maybe next time, or the time after that, or the time after that.

I'll join-in eventually, just got to get some practice in at actually making songs first.

I agree with jaytraze! I' m in the forum for about three months, same as an owner of an sp and i started to make some beats due pandemic with my po. For sure they will be many people here with more knowledge and experience from me, but it' s fun to hear how "competitor's" have different approach on the same sample. What is best for me, maybe is scrap for another and the opposite. That' s the game.. but the game is fun. Of course it would be my pleasure if one of my beat will be liked by many people, but this is not my priority.

I'm baffled why the hell anyone even wants me to produce a beat, it would be absolute shit

As for Zindan and his stalking statement, lol, in your dreams bro, in your dreams
Looking forward to that album though, sounds interesting!

So let's see now, you're convinced I'm not really SP-USER and that I'm someone else. We've also surely concluded by now that I am not LoopmantrA, either, so just out of curiosity, who the hell do you think I am now, exactly?

If you think I'm someone else on here who is not posting work just because it would give-away who I really am, who is the person that posting my work would leave you to believe I am?

Oh and what work? ... I'd love to know, I'm genuinely intrigued

Tell you what bro, I'll make a deal with you. You tell me who you think I am and I will tell you with 100% sincerity whether you are right or not - hand-on-heart and all that. I'm guessing, however, that facing such a question will cause you to chicken-out and not tell me.
