hey just nabbed myself a 404 is anyone using theirs alongside a mpc 2000xl? if so do you have any idea how to save the note assignment on the mp to save having to set it up everytime you want to sequence the sp with it? i tried just saving a pgm but it didnt seem to work.

bless up

Honestly, I don't understand why you would want to do this...unless you are using very long samples that the MPC can't handle. What's your reason?

you misunderstand im sequencing midi with the mpc controlling the sp404 which has many advantages including velocity and decent pads

No, I didn't misunderstand... I'm just wondering why you don't just use the MPC instead.

well you could have velocity sensitive MPC pads as triggers PLUS the live effects of the 404, no?
from memory the MPC's effects are limited and not that tweakable

let us know, rocfresh!

That's true...the effects of the 404 are better...

so you want to use the MPC as a MIDI controller for the SP-404?

i'm not sure if i understand what you're asking, but i think that's what you want, right?

I have a prgrm for the mpc1000 that has the 404's midi note asignments. I never really used it, but you have a mpc2000xl right? it wont work, but just set on up yourself and load it up when u start your process. Or get a MPD midi controller. theyre pretty cheap now.

Remember that the 2Kxl can not assing a big enough note range to control all sample banks on the 404.

:shock: i'm rockin' that very same set-up: record player->Realistic Stereo frequency equalizer->SP404->MP2Kxl

unfortunately I'm having difficulty doing that very same thing. MIDI has been a puzzlin' enigma 2 me...so it's unchartered waters with me.
