For anyone new to this Grindhouse lark or thinking about sampling it, just a word of warning that there's a whole bunch of so-called "Grindhouse Trailer Collections" doing the rounds on YouTube, but the stuff that is gettng included in these collections is hardly ever Grindhouse.

People really need to ignore that stuff and just grab those DVD collections I pointed out to Headphones, the difference is like night and day. They contain nothing but proper full-on Grindhouse movie trailers, not the sort of shit being passed-off as Grindhouse in those YouTube collections. Most of those on YouTube barely even qualify as thrillers, nevermind Grindhouse, and the quality is absolutely appalling.

That aside, I recently came across "Berlin Syndrome" on YouTube. I'd completely forgotten about it. Not Grindhouse, but fairly tonge-in cheek since it's about a guy who lives in an apartment situated in an abandoned apartment block in Berlin. The reason he lives there is so that no one can hear the tourist girls he brings back there, screaming when they realise they can't get out. He's basically a smooth-talking Romeo who uses these tourist girls as sex toys, and for photographic kink. Probably not worth flipping, but a nicely made film all the same, and a nice body on the girl!

No spoiler, but this might even be enjoyed by feminists as well due to the ending

I once worked at a video store. I saw this one sci fi movi that must have came out before the Berlin Wall fell in 1989. So this movie was set in a divided Berlin, yet I guess was a future they assumed was still possible where there was still east/west. The problem is: a) can’t remember what it was called. B) Can’t remember the actors names. I’m gonna assume nobody terribly famous. Perhaps a German or Austrian actor was in it. I’m shooting blanks here. And finally C) It’s been so long, I forgot the story/plot!! It was interesting since it was a Cold War sci fi relic, and keep in mind, it wasn’t super tech or lasers or stuff. Maybe a film you could say was 5 minutes into the future. Only problem was: real life made the whole movie obsolete. What I do remember was there were sub plots that involved east vs west, and probably a border crossing or two. I wish I could explain more, but I guess if I knew a European sci fi movie buff, he or she MIGHT know the film I’m talking about. If not, I guess I’m just rambling.

Only wish I could help you homie but I'm no movie buff I'm afraid. I'm not even close to being fully informed on the genres I collect or flip. There's a few films I've seen and/or heard off but I've been unable to find them even after crazy amounts of research.

For a moment I thought I might know the film you're talking about, but the part about it being set only a few years in the future would rule out what I was thinking by default because I know it has a space-ship in it. If by chance it does have a space-ship in it, just say the word and I'll try to locate what I thought you meant.

No, I’m damn certain it didn’t involve space ships or aliens. I guess it was a sci fi spy movie since it was a Cold War movie involving both east/west Germany. It’s like a song or movie you only hear or see once. And you may never stumble into it again. That’s life.

I tried that, but it’s kinda shooting fish with 1 bullet in a lake. I just need to round it down but it’s tough because this was the only one that was supposed to be a Berlin of the future, but I can’t remember much about it.

Decided to pick-up the Blu-ray of Berlin Syndrome after all, not to flip it, but to keep and add to my collection (if I ever see my collection again that is). I thought it was a good movie, good acting and I do like the girl, so why not. Plus, the volume on the YouTube upload was too low and really spoiled my enjoyment of it, so will be nice to hear it at a realistic volume level next time!

Buy yeah, it's a pain in the arse when you can't find a film you want and know is out there. One of the films I've been trying to find is a Horror and has the word "Banshee" in the title. I think it was either an 80s or early 90s movie based on a story by Edgar Allan Poe. I remember it being quite dark, moon-lit, that sort of thing, and I think I remember a creature living in the wardrobe of this woman's bedroom or something. I remember a giant tomb pretty much directly outside the house and there was something going on wiith that, no doubt related to the creature in the wardrobe.

There's a few films out there with "Banshee" in the title, I've followed them all up and there's a few recent ones I've not seen yet (but will). Buggered if I can find that film though. It makes me wonder if what I saw was maybe part of a horror series or something, sort of like "Masters of Horror", but nope, not a bloody sign of it anywhere!

Just wanted to post a link to this guys YouTube channel because, no kidding, he has one of the most enjoyable channels I've ever come across on YouTube!

This David character (DavidFromLille) is a very talented dude who basically takes the soundtracks of movies and puts them to slickly-edited visuals of the movies themselves. He does a way better job than the companies hired to make official trailers, and pretty much everything he puts out on his channel would make fantastic audio-fodder for your sampler!

He has channels separated into 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s etc but here is his main channel:

Not only cool for sourcing very cool beat-battle-worthy music, but also incredibly cool for coming across movies you might otherwise have never even known about.

You just know with an introduction like that it's going to be interesting, but what I really like about this one (apart from it being a feminist's worst nightmare I mean), is that it has that very stylish 70s retro vibe about it. I absolutely love the styling of the building and the interiors in this one!

This was David Cronenberg's debut movie, shot in Canada in just 15 days back in 1975 (that's quite an achievement for any movie, let alone a debut). Love it, and the interview for this movie was very revealing since apparently two very kinky women acted in this film. One of the actresses wanted Cronenberg to physically assault her with some seriously hard face-slapping in order to make her cry for the crying scenes. In the end he obliged for a while but obviously hated it since she was demanding harder and harder slaps. Then another one of the actresses found out and hinted she wanted the same treatment!

Before I provide the links, here's a polite warning to the 'politically corrected' and 'feminist' types out there who like to shout on social media because they're too fucking ugly to get laid. Shivers contains scenes of a schoolgirl being attacked by a mad scientist, stripped and experimented on. It is of course only a movie and therefore no matter how hard you cry, it will always remain a movie. No one got hurt and I'm quite sure it never led to anyone being killed by a mad scientist in order to breed parasites. So if you happen to be one of those extremely unfortunate 'politically corrected' or 'feminist' types, please feel free to shout on social media about it so that you can help publicise and sell more copies of the movie. It was released in 1975 and thanks to the miracle of duplication both in the analogue and digital domain, will still be around entertaining audiences long after you're dead and buried no matter how much you shout about it - so how's that for a reality check?

But for those of us with a fully-functioning brain, if you know David Cronenberg then you probably already expect it to be weird and awesome anyway. And there's also some nice samples to be had in here, like the voice-over introduction during the opening of the movie, describing the luxurious facilities of the apartment complex. That would sound great against a fittingly retro-sounding backdrop of a beat I reckon!

My girlfriend and me were actually shooting some porn scenes in the past and uploaded them to a big pornsite. It is not worth the money, because you have to continuosely upload videos. At best one video per week, so your popularity grows and there are a lot of competitors out there. So you have to work hard and be unique. But - like uploading good music to youtube/spotify - good videos continuously generate money, even if they are older.
But man when you are in a relationship and do porn as an amateur couple things can get complicated. You love each other and you still want and need intimate sex for having a healthy relationship. In our case the passion for each other and the presented intimicy - which was real - was our unique selling point. But it is not easy to just switch the camera on and let yourself go in a natural way. Especially when you are hyped already, realizing that people start to love your videos. In the end we took a break of shooting porn and this break lasts till today.
It's like making music. People love a certain style of an artist. This style is natural, innocent, raw, not (fully) rational intended, not faked. But if the artist knows that exactly this style is well received and then tries to bring about this style intentionally, then it may well be that the whole story goes down the drain.
