My apologies to Headphones for this, but after what Zindan called me on the other page, I just wanted to post this for his attention.
It must be Zindan's lucky day, cause there's a brand-new documentary on something very similar to what he's mocking about me. The only difference between this couple and what I'm taking about is the religeous aspect, and that's because I'm not religious (though I do repect their choice).
She gives her man her body to do with as he pleases, and gets the same privilege from her man in return. This results in a relationship that completely satifies both of them. That's just beautiful. She also wears whatever HE thinks she should wear and not only appreciates it, but enjoys it.

Back on topic, just thought I'd update on this MODX situation of mine.
Limits can definitely be fun but it's really beginning to look as if this one specific limit has really thrown a spanner in the works. The dealer is as baffled by it as I am and has agreed to let me keep it beyond the return window until they get to the bottom of it with Yamaha. I get the feeling that maybe Yamaha, after adding the sequencer, fully intended for this to work, but just never got around to it before the update. All it really needs is a "Sequencer Start" toggle button on the Audio Record screen, so that if you have it toggled on, the sequencer will start when you start recording audio. As it is right now, I can't even record the sequencer manually, because the sequencer literally will not run at all while recording audio.
I'd be surprised if such an option isn't added in the next update, trouble is though, I have no idea when the next update will be and neither does the dealer. So that's the situation right now, and I really hope there's something I'm doing wrong, but I don't think so and even the dealer can't figure it out after playing around with their shop unit.

pretty sure the only roland sampler in existence with this capability is the SP-555 with loop capture, and i'm pretty sure it's a very limited function

The only way to work around it is to record to external gear then sample it back into the MODX. I didn't pay £1,200 for a "workstation" expecting to still have to do what I could already do without it. One of the reasons I went for the MODX is because it's such a fantastic palette of sound to draw from. The idea was to sequence my own performances, sample them and use them as my own custom-designed Hip-Hop samples, just as if I had sampled them from vinyl. In other words, the MODX was going to be my personal "crate"!
I can't do that if the bloody sequencer won't run while it's recording audio (sampling). Unless, like I said, I use external equipment like recording to tape and then sampling it back again. I don't mind doing that in some cases, in fact I'd do it a lot regardless because I like what the Marantz does to the audio (I can set the dials to sweet effect) but I paid £1,200 for what I thought could be used as a complete standalone workstation.
Unfortunately, that bizarre limitation prevents me using it as I wanted, because the only thing it will record to audio, is live playing and the arpeggiator. For some bizarre reason, unknown even to a Yamaha dealer, the sequencer will not run while in Audio Record mode (Sampling), therefore putting a massive spanner in the works preventing me from using it the way I intended to use it. It's literally the biggest spanner it could have in this case.
