Just watched the first video, about to start the second. But on your comment on the screen, I'm surprised they didn't pick a bigger display since that's the move everything else made especially for something that the first video mentioned is for making tracks from start to finish, in 2021, where it CAN be implemented (MPC Live, MPC X, Maschine etc,) HOWEVER... I like the idea of not having a fancy larger screen that shows you everything going on, just a preference of mine. Keeps the ears busier than the eyes haha.

Overall it still looks really neat and sleek. Really interested to hear what people make on this and see how people implement it in their workflows and further reviews

it's a nice device:
you can think of the MV-1 as like an entry level MV8800. they can both do the same thing but the 8800 is more flexible, while the 1 forces you to do things in a specific way.



zenbeats opening a mv1-project in wine.

zenbeats, it gives you access to parameters that are hard to work with given the little screen they gave it. sampling on it is pretty much like just like on an sp but you get to bounce down, a.d.s.r. and mad polyphony. zen works in osx, ios, windows and android.
and also wine.



zenbeats is "stagelight" from openlabs. Roland bought it and repurposed it for their zen-cloud service, but since it runs on everything (including wine "so linux users like myself aren't leftout") they are using it to give added functionality to their New MV-1. it's not in beta but it's still being worked on heavily. and I'm glad, if they can get so it can make sampling less of a chore on the mv-1 then I'm set. right now sampling on it is like using a roland sp, which i don't mind but scrolling with that little knob is not cool. the one thing i hate about roland sp's is the low polyphony and no adsr on samples. that's not a problem for the mv-1.

here i have the MV-1 as the master sound card in Jack.

when i do this i can activate it's multi-out over usb.




the mv-1 has eight stereo outputs over USB. Seven stereo outputs for the internal tracks, one stereo pair for your vocal tracks. So yes you can go ahead and output your stems directly to a daw for further mixing and mastering outside of the mv1 if you like. But you don't have to, you can mix and master inside the device itself. If you see one of my pictures there I have gone ahead and imported some music directly into ardour (a Linux pro tools clone). But you don't need to do it with any daw at all, you can mix and master inside the box and use Zen beats to help you see the parameters that you wouldn't ordinarily see on the box. Also you can just import the stems into zen beats itself.




with its workflow i think the MV-1 is trying to be a less expensive (hence the screen) competitor to teenage engineering's op1.

i don't care though, i love it. quickly becoming my go to device.

As an MV-8800 owner myself, I don't really see a good reason to jump on the MV-1. I do like how it is a more modern and faster solution overall. But I already know I'm going to hate how it essentially wants you to just build one song at a time. From what I understand, that's how limited the internal storage is?

Does it allow for multiple projects at all?

Thats funny, your studio only has a 505 and a 606


From the manual. Though I see pitch shifting, what I don't see is a parameter for pitch tuning which is a whole different feature. But if my missed something, let it be. I just saved money toward an SP-404MK2!
