About live set recording

About live set recording
Hi! I import some beats from my pc and make others on sp404sx. Can you tell me please how do you rec your live sets? Should i connect the sp-404sx to audio interface? Is there a better way?

Hello and welcome mate!
Depends on what you mean by "live set" - if it's multiple devices (for example, I use SP, drum machine, synth, turntable and bunch of fx pedals) you'd probably want to connect everything to some mixer, to monitor the overall sound and possibly colour it and add a bit of compression (it's what I'd do anyway) before sending it to your recording device via output. Doesn't really matter what the device you're recording to is - as long as it's getting a healthy sound, no clipping, buzzing, humming, etc.
I usually go for my field hand recorder (ZOOM H2, the older version) because I get some humming occasionally from my soundcard. But like I said, doesn't really matter.
If you wanna record your SP set only no other devices - you could hit "resample" and record everything directly to your 404 sx - people do this as well, though keep in mind the number of pads you can press simultaneously (especially stereo samples) before other pads go out while resampling
Or just run it directly to your PC, nothing wrong with that, do it myself from time to time
Though imho hand recorder is by far the best option - you can take it anywhere, small and portable, relatively cheap (basic models are around 100$) and you can also record sounds on the fly.

Power up SP-404 ..load card.
Check input levels.
Hit record.
Smash pads ...play tracks .
Press stop...rewind tape.
Job done...
