Your idea makes sense, but I think I'd bake in the compression first then add the vinyl sim crackle and flutter. The way that people describe the comp is actually something I'm looking for. Is there a way to apply comp to pads that already have the vs pre-baked into them w/ the remain function and have it work exactly the same as the 404og?? Or maybe not the technique I just described, but some sort of layering that would require an extra step or whatever? I'm sure it can be done, but the question would be whether or not it sounds as good as the OG.
For example, what if you apply the vinyl sim to all pads that you wanted, then resampled those into a new pad, and then apply compression to that new pad?
That said, try it both ways. Or get your hands on an OG to use with your SX.... I found a used OG for $200 recently!
