Clicking and Popping on One Shot/Gate samples(reworded post)

Post by mfny »

Hi all,

Got a SP 202 today for some Low Fi fun.

However I am finding its handling of gated/one shot samples to be less than ideal.

There is an annoying click when setting a pad to Gated/One Shot modes for drum hits seemingly happening most often if you do not let the sample play back in full it seems like i.e when trying to finger drum at higher BPM.

Loop/Trigger mode samples do not have this problem.

Is this just a a limitation of a 20 year old low end/budget sampler ? I have seen youtube videos of the SP 202 and not heard this happen there.. so I do wonder what I am doing wrong, or maybe there is something wrong with my unit ?

Yeah occasionally it happens to me too. I usually just embrace it

Sometimes I will record again but clicking will happen when the sound is abruptly cut off.

Do you have another machine to run drums from?
