Post by mrcocaineraindrops »

I have a SP404 for maybe over a year now running everything completely dawless & i'm kinda trying to say down that path if I can would love to run everything thru the SP.

But every time I make it a track it runs very quiet & low

another option with fx12 is to make your melody/sample track way quieter than your kick/drums, resample those to a new track, and then throw compression on it. CTRL 3 all/most of the way to the right, CTRL 1/2 to taste. may not always result in the cleanest mix, but it throws in some variation (esp if the drums duck out at some point in the track), makes the beat knock in that sidechain type way and boosts the volume. hope it helps g

If you mean the final project that you wish to now publish. you can try playing your finished project with the EQ effect or even a EQ rack off the out port and use a good monitor or headphones to get your desired sound. Use that new mix as your finished mix. If you are keeping things in your studio minimal and analog, Just get creative and you will find a solution. Good Luck, be safe.

What do you record into?

You just need something with Gain. Whether it be a $20-40 DJ mixer, twist of a knob, before going into a cassette deck.
Or, a plug-in for a DAW if you are more digital.

Gain will maximize your volume.

If you like gear, you can find a multiband EQ relatively cheap. Messing with them can craft your sound to your liking.
