There's a lot of lofi-texture, hiss, and a sense of room in that track. I don't know how to nail it. It seems difficult to achieve solely in a digital machine like the SP, better to invite some analog reality. To me it makes sense to experiment with the following: Sample from vinyl or cassette tape. Maybe even record vinyl to cassette tape. Record "in the red" to saturate the tape and get som nice distortion. Send the audio out through speakers. Mic up the speakers to catch more air/room and sample that. Compress to make the drums knock etc.

resample and compress. rinse repeat rinse repeat. I will say this guys mix still sounds good.
