easy YouTube sampling

Some of you might already know this so this is for those who don't

So I like to sample off YouTube, it is just a vast resource of free loops and material. I was sampling straight into my sp606 and sp808 from my pc and then record this back into the pc into FLStudio so I could mainly I.D. the bpm.

But I just discovered this site http://www.youtube-mp3.org/ which lets you copy and paste the youtube vid and then it makes a mp3 that you can download...awesome.

Now I can just take straight into FLSTudio, ID the bpm , add any fx and then back out to the sp's for some fun

Nice one step to eliminate the previously two steps.

You didn't actually need to record to your SP. All modern soundcards are full duplex. You set your recording device to 'STEREO MIX' and hit record in your favorite recorder and it records all sounds you hear into audio. If you got something that records straight to MP3, or just use a DAW with audiotrack support, it also eliminates that step.

However, for people that don't feel like finding those settings, this is a good alternative.

it took me a little bit to figure out the duplex of the 606, but it's a snap.

if you record 1 track, and want to do external overdubs from the 606 ,

set the 606 to *mix to record the 606, (full duplex) now to do overdubs on that track set your 606 to *input. now it will only record anything coming in thru ext source. this doesnt help much if you want to record pads ,

but it is mentioned in the 606 area how to do this.

I will say this too, even though I found this , I still liked sampling direct from the pc right into the sampler as it is quick and instant. But for those swirling pad sounds or stuff I that I can't make out the tempo then yeah this is a kool way to get stuff sorted.
