SP 404 + MPC 1000?

Post by elhuana »

Hello guys

At the moment, when it comes to hardware I have nothing.
Only my PC with some software like FL Studio and Battery.
Sorry, I forgot, I have also a Piano by Casio ( ~8 years old, it has midi :P ).

I've been really fascinated with MPC 1000 ( despite I have never touched it :P ) and I want to buy it.
But I want to buy it 'used', on eBay, and ask my friend to take it with him to Poland, place where I dwell :)
He will be back home in 2 months time. My 2nd friend gonna return in 3 months time, so I thought that the 1st one gonna buy me MPC and the second one gonna buy me SP-404.

But now I have an opportunity to buy used sp404 in my homeland for ~350usd and I really started to think about it for real.

Of course my priority is MPC1k and I thought that I would check it out first, and see if it "fit" me. If it did, I wouldn't probably buy sp :P

So, pls help me out cuz I really dont know if there is a point to possess those two devices and use them both effectively.

Best wishes
LHU

There are definitely people who use a MPC1000 and SP-404 together and it seems to work good. I myself would never buy an MPC1000, I'd probably go for the MPC2500 because of the Chop Shop and some other features.

I'm not familiar with the JJ-OS stuff, the un-official software update that adds new options to the MPC1000 (and 2500 now??) ), but they are definitely not bad machines.

I use both... they compliment each other well. Get both if you can.

just a warning, watch out if you get a used 1k. Those machines aint built to last. The 404 is built to last but there are no guarantees in life.

I have both machines and never use them together. But my style is kinda basic, I dont get too deep into FX and sequencing

I simply love it, but now I have a problem how to make 2 patterns playing simultanously :P
( I hope I will find a solution on this forum :))
