how do i use audacity?

im lost, how do i record into my computer? i can only play my computer thru my 404. do i need any cables? i have a dell laptop inspirion 600.

if your goin directly into your laptop's sound card you'll need somethin like this.

as far as da recording side of audacity i would take a look at some of the youtube videos on audacity. there pretty informative.

Usually you can hear what you're doing/recording through your laptop speakers. I run my sounds from the SP through my bass amp first and then into my laptop but that shouldn't influence that.

I have the problem that the program records the input from the soundcard and from its' own speakers (through the internal mic) and I want to avoid that like when I'm playing a metronome or beat on my laptop to play along with my SP when I record it.

Hmm but as I write this I figured, I could try to turn down the mic volume in the windows settings... never mind *gg*
