Also, if this (description in next/3rd paragraph) doesn't ring a bell for anyone, then I'll try to record an instance of it happening, and I'll describe what I was doing at that point. The problem with recording it is that it sometimes doesn't occur until after an hour or so.
(Oh, and I'm quoting most of this from an unanswered reddit post, so I'll use quotes as to not spam the internet lol)
"I just bought an sp404a, and it has been really great, except the audio occasionally freaks out. It starts stuttering (as the title states), and it cuts in and out as though there was a short in my headphones. I've tried different headphones, and it still happens, so I don't think it's the headphones."
Further, I don't think it's the headphones because audio will cut out and cut back in at the same point. It doesn't stay in sync.
"It only happens very occasionally, usually for only a moment, but sometimes for more than a few seconds (10-15 seconds). Another thing is that I use it mostly on the go, so could it be the batteries? Could it be polyphony?"
I've ruled out the batteries specifically being the issue, because it has also happened while using the A/C adapter. If it could possibly be a power issue, then it's not specific to battery use.
"I've tried mashing a ton of buttons at once, and I can't recreate it that way. All that happens is what seems correct: the first notes stop, and the new ones keep going--no crackle. I've also tried manipulating my headphone cords (wiggling around, etc.), and it has no effect."
