Re: Got a Tascam dp01 for $50
50dollars very great price!
i had the dp01fx, you could add external fx with; i sold it and i miss its warm sound
what i didn't liked was the fact , common to digital recorders, that you couldn't listen to trax while bouncing other trax without recording all of them, it was annoying

Yeah I was very lucky, they go for €100 or more at Ebay. I look forward to using it. How did you use it? Mostly for fx?

If you don't know how to use the machine just go and download the manual for the DP-01 online..if you google search for the recorder there are PDF files for it that will have all the information you will need.
These particular Tascams are relatively straightforward to operate anyway but I'd definitely recommend that you download the manual for it.
Have fun!

There are a ton of uses, here are a few suggestions (I don't have the Tascam Dp01, but have a Zoom R16, so just general uses for a digital recorder) -
1) Track out your sp beats. Since the sp doesn't have individual outs it would take time, you would have to track out 1 track at a time, but it would allow you to separate the sounds on to their own track in the Tascam to mix/master in a DAW (create beat in sp sequencer, mute out all sounds you don't want to record onto track by using an sp effect, once recorded onto Tascam, plug sp into next track/channel on Tascam & do the same thing, but with different sounds on sp)
2) Can use it to bounce audio back & forth. A lot of reasons to do this, but 1 example is you can record a beat into the Tascam while playing with effects live, then sample back into sp with an effect, then back into Tascam. Another example would be recording yourself finger drumming, like making a beat in resample mode, but if you record onto Tascam instead you won't have polyphony issues.
3) Since you can't listen to sequencer or samples on sp while sampling into sp, you can plug sound source into Tascam, then Tascam into sp, play sequence or whatever on sp while recording sound source into Tascam (a lot of uses for this, but an example as to why this is useful, you can play a keyboard or instrument live along with your sp sequence). Then once recorded in Tascam, hit play on Tascam & record into sp.
4) You can use it like a mixer. Also if you want to sample more than 1 device into the sp, you can plug devices into Tascam them Tascam into sp.

OMG all that for $50. Thx.
You used to have the dp01, right? I thunk I read that somewhere.
Re: Got a Tascam dp01 for $50
No I have a Zoom R16. It's a digital recorder tho....everything I listed you can do with any digital recorder. You also have eq on the dp01 you can use to shape sounds a bit (example: enhance the hi's in snares, hihats, cymbals, melodies & enhance the lo's in kicks, bass).
You can do quite a bit with that thing
The dp01 also has phantom power, so if you get a condenser mic you can use it with the dp01 (need phantom power to use a condenser mic).
Experiment & have fun!

Re: Got a Tascam dp01 for $50
I mostly used it as 8tracks recorder (i came from 4track cassettes at the time - 2005- no pc) and it was amazing to connect externat fx to it, also using the sps as effects box was coolmokxmatic wrote: Yeah I was very lucky, they go for €100 or more at Ebay.
