smart media data recovery via testdisk

First time post -
I accidentally reformatted one of my old memory cards and lost all the samples. This was one of my first memory cards before I had methods for backing up.
I was wondering if anyone has ever had any success retrieving data via testdisk. I recovered two file folder directories. They each contain two unzipped .gz files. I'm sure this is a lost caused - but was hoping that if I could figure out how to open these .gz that maybe the .SPO files would be there.
I'm wondering if anyone else has ever tried successfully to recover deleted files from reformatting via testdisk or photorec data recovery programs.

hi Pippiz, yes, I tried to recover formatted media via Recuva app using the guide. PhotoRec is a great alternative but I'd recommend you to turn on a 'Deep Scan' option.

Thanks! I'm going to try this out. I'm curious though... you said that you "tried" to recover data. I'm wondering if you were successful!
