What do you mean by "synth the SP"? What are you trying to do?

you'll need a midi (out) port on your computer.. there are a few cheap usb-interfasces which have one out- and one midinput...
Long time ago I had this:
http://de.m-audio.com/products/de_de/Uno-main.html
and i was very satisfied with that!!!
After you got sth like this, you need to config. your software... I'll have to look into cubase to tell you how i did it but it's not that hard...
(If you ain't got a good soundcard / rcording-interface yet and you want to buy one in the future, remember that most of them "pro"-cards already got midi in- and outputs!)
Padkontrol isn't possible cause the 404 only got midi in... so it just can receive midi signals, not send...

Hope that helps...

It's hard to describe all the midi basics.. you might take look to drewzle link...
If you make a drumloop in your software, your can't "send" it to you sp!
You have to record it or bounce and import! ...but the best would be to do the drumloop in your sp... that's what it's for 8)

Midi In is just a input to receive Midi Signals.. A Midi signal ain't a sample, ain't a wave, it's just a "information".
So the Sp only can receive informations... (You can play your sp with a midi-keyboard or a padkontrol, or you can "tell" your sp at which bpm it has to play your pattern -> SYNC)

If you just want to play your software you'll need a midi-keyboard or a padkontrol or a mpc or a whatever but no SP404.... sorry

It's really hard to communicate under two bad english speaking people...
Maybe some others can help you a lil more...

^ wingzz - in battles you can't use Korg padkontrol, or any other device...just the SP!!

yeah, what drewzle said. Only the SP, no other hardware or software allowed. battle # 17 is over April 22 and many more battles to come.

If you dont make a beat for battle#17 you can still vote when the poll is up 8)
