303 LO-FI effect

Post by thx »

hi dudes, i'm using the sp-303 more and more every day and i'm really happy to have bought this wonderful little sampler/fx unit the last december.
i know this is a nerdy question, but anyway:
anybody can explain me how the lo-fi fx works? (control knobs 1, 2 and 3), i'm messing with it a lot in the last few days, but in the manual it is not explained how the fx really works: how bit reduction and sampling frequency affect the sound, what are the limits of bit crushing, what is the range of sampling frequency shifting etc... etc...
thanks

the manual says:

mfx LO-FI effect: Gives the sound a “low-fidelity” character.
CTRL.1: Adjusts the sampling frequency.
CTRL.2: Adjusts the bit count.
CTRL.3: Adjust the sensitivity with which the filter will be affected.

i would like to know the range of the settings (sampling frequency settings and number of bits)
