Re: useful VSTs i've used
i'm a Universal Audio user. They make the best emulations of Hi-Fidelity hardware! better than Waves IMO.
I persoanlly own the Apollo Twin. It comes with a UA 610 Preamp (although I have separate preamps that i plug my mic into) Pultec EQ's and LA-2A Limiters.
I also acquired other vst's that emulate Fender Rhodes and Hohner Clavinets.
I would love to actually own a real one or at least a Nord Keyboard but them shit's expensive.

^Foreal. The thing with vst's is that they sounds too clean. need to get em sounding a bit dirty. The 303 would definitely help out in that scenario.

ah man you actually have a nord?

Re: useful VSTs i've used
i think i seen an old one for sale last year... i was broke so i couldn't buy it...
The advantage of midi keyboards is that they're light weight. I like to travel so things like dimensions and weight are always a factor when i get gear... at the same time, i want more "stand alone" gear so i can take pressure off my laptop. don't wanna run up my RAM (although its ok if i only use 1 software sound at a time)

Re: useful VSTs i've used
TG homies put me on to PEACH which is free.
Got all those top secret NES samples loaded inside.
All TAL VSTs are amazing and free.
Also like the mentioned VULF but still doesn't sound as good as 505/303 compression
Synth1 is always loaded up.
