I agree warmth is subjective, but I believe the above statements to be false, not a matter of opinion.

A lot of tape recorders do compression because they need to be sure that when recording on 1 the sound does not bleed to track 2, 2 to 3 etc. So, You will end with a compressed track without even noticing and you will end calling it "warm". I think it's a word for "randomness" added by gear.
