Pad light noise
When my 404 is sitting in pattern mode without anything playing, I can hear a humming sound that is in time with the glowing on/off of the pads... I was wondering if everyone gets this, or is it my unit/cables?

I tried to fix this in my 404. I seperated the wires between the bottom "motherboard" (which had signal and power wires bundled together) and the back board. Also put an insulated copper foil (connected by a wire to the ground on the back panel) between the motherboard and the top switch board as these are closely placed back to back. Hardly made any difference. So I'd say the problem is probably noise pickup in the motherboard itself and so not easily fixed.
I think you can minimise the light activity (In the manual somewhere) - but I like the lights too much to do without them.
As said, it's worse if you have a lot of gain on whatever the unit is plugged into. So, setup with everything on max on the 404 (well, maybe not quite max, 'cause the 404 output gets distorted a bit on max - about 7/10ths should do). That way you don't have to put so much gain on the mixer or whatever you plug into.

Just when you think things couldn't get any more exciting - they don't.
