P O L L - SPBB#250 - P O L L

Post by l i f »

Deadline was already gone three or four days ago so without further ado:

The usual applies - click the poll, then post in the thread who you voted for and why.

#250 is quite the milestone, happy birthday SP Forums Beat Battles!

Good luck all.

Edit: added kid pasta.

Easy vote for me, Chopperman doing the work on it this week. Loved where you took the samples to a whole 'nother universe and made use of the processing-power of resample. Great groove and mix too.

I'll give a shout to M I B 93 / made quite a cool banger outta that, great vibes and loved how you re-mixed the main riff with that little interlude. In the end was too much couched in the original material and the out of key acapella hook at the end threw me right off, but a great submission anyways.

Props to disDope - love that style of killer short dmc-battle style cut!

Going with Green dutch. My thoughts below:

seezesea - cool beat.esp. toward the end with the repeating pianos in the back
lif - liked some of the deeper bass tones u had in here.. cool sequence in the middle
kszexwo - dope melody u had going.. wasnt really a fan of the overall audio quality though
disDope Circus - Accurate picture to describe the beat/song lol.. Was a fun listen
ellaguru - Dope beat. I wanted to go that route with the melody too but I felt like I heard it sampled before? Could be wrong
M I B 93 - this was also fun to listen to.. bass sounded nice in this one.. not sure if you added extra touches or whatever but was nice and clean
green dutch - very dope.. liked the way the chops bounced around.. the guitar was a nice touch on this beat. Overall great sound and feel
chopperman - I liked the all little stabs and vocal sounds ("I'll show you") ...it all sounded real nice
kid pasta - very dope flip. This one had attitude

seezesea - nice one, deep
lif - don't know, not into it enough, it distracted me a bit, sorry : )
kszexwo - cool
disDope Circus - yes, Besties would be happy with that
Teewok - nice chops
M I B 93 - cool one, very easy to do (but not everyboy done it)
green dutch - cool, dark, i hoped central part was more developed
chopperman - nice samples and construction
kid pasta - original (in this context), cool one

>>voted for seezesea<<
M I B 93 and green dutch closest

yes i think i know what you mean, but i replayed and resounded the chops with the 505 pitch and found other different melodies from the original, but in the end it came like a sort of 2000-2005 beat : )))

Fuckin crazy dope battle everybody. Kid Pasta, Teewok,Lif all nasty stuff. Dope flips each one was impressive. I went with MIB93 though. The flip was flawless and even if it was the obvious part to take you did it dope. I liked the crazy sound in the bg too. Nice work everyone.

Voting, as always, is super subjective. Makes it tough since everybody got their own styles. Went for MIB.

I was gonna bow out of this 'cause well, I don't really feel like taking on a mod roll in the battles - I think they should be self-sustaining; the rules are so basic, I mean.

But I enjoy the battles a whole lot and I get itchy too when, for example the winner of a battle waits a week before setting up a poll, or when the unofficial winner of a battle doesn't cast a vote..

That said, I'm not here to offer solutions either, at least not in this thread. Think I'll just go fx with the STBB for a minute instead.

Peace!

Yeah, I decided to loosely limit my beatmaking to just these battles until I have a little money saved up. I'm about 500 times more likely to sell my drawings than my beats, so I'm directing most of my creative energy toward illustration. These battles are a fun way to keep the pads from getting rusty without spreading myself too thin between crafts. Until these lazy stoners sleep on them, leaving us all wondering where they went. I know things come up that don't leave time for these frivolous battles, but at least take a minute to let us know wtf is up. I think if 3 full days pass after the poll ends, with no word from the winner, anyone should be able to go ahead and start the next battle. Its not hard to do. Don't even need to dig if you go with something from r/vintageobscura.

U r lucky to b so gifted bro! Ur illustration work is dope. It’s always a challenge managing time... especially when it’s so much fun making beats!!!

And then somebody goes & messes up the flow in here... damn it... and someone who was supported & praised by the very community they r too busy to interact w. Of course there r always extenuating circumstances. Yeah, let’s add a clause to the rules. Picking samples & hosting a battle is a privilege. It bums me out when people diss the arena like this. Let’s nail it down in the rules & keep this shit moving. Who’s got some ideas / samples bubbling?
