I was here since the beginning of this site and remember how there was only a few users. I know for a fact I was the originator of the 404ninja style,as well as BOLO,CASSANOVA WONG and INVINCIBLE TEMPLE..The SP used to be a hidden secret,cats used to look at us crazy like how you gonna make beats with that toy?!?Now the SP and lofi has turned into utter nonsense and has become commercial and what everyone is calling lofi is actually no where near lofi.Alot of these kung fu beats and chill hiphop all sound the same,especially the kung fu...all these youtube flips are way saturated and cats releasing ninja tapes everyother week. The ninja tapes that are out now remind me of enter the kung pow lol.I am so turned off by this genre now that it has forced me to abandon the style I created and go strictly digging in da crates!
Hopefully the new comers in to our secret SP will see the light and the true power of the SP and create something new...I'm am worried I will see a SP being sold at urban outfitters or Walmart someday lmao

Who cares, everything gets over saturated at some point. Be better then your competition and it’s all good. Any one can play/make music, go to an open mic some time. Mostly average with maybe one or two stand outs. Be original be driven and fuck every one else. Just my two cents.

Couldn't agree more with this comment..the amount of half arsed lofi garbage on Soundcloud alone is astounding.I can usually only stand to listen to 30 seconds of the vast majority of this shit before I have to turn it off.

Don't get me wrong cause I do think there's some cool stuff being made and I've heard great music from some of the members of this forum especially.

I've just never understood why some people don't actually try learning to use the 404 to see what it's really capable of instead of blatantly copying a style they think is cool..it's fucking laughable to see how lazy a lot of this shit sounds especially the boring identical beats that come across like they've been sampled from hitting a mouldy, wet cardboard box and a broken metal pencil case.

Totally uninspired...it's just a copy and paste style of Hip Hop for people with no chops and who have zero understanding of the genre itself.

Just cause you've sucked off a few gangsters it doesn't mean that it makes you one too.

Same as just because you happen to own a sampler doesn't instantly mean you're now a music producer somehow.

Exactly, who cares, that’s a them problem. Let’s be honest, it ain’t exactly hard to record a sample throw drums over and apply vinyl sim with an SP. Just like it’s not that hard to learn three chords and play a few Dylan songs. But that doesn’t mean it’s good, easy equals average and unoriginal which everyone hears.

blame producers like bsd.u that invented/pioneered the super simple easily replicated version lofi. there music is usually trash.
