ISOLATOR VS EQUALIZER (SP-404SX)
What ISOLATOR does
This is plain white noise ran through the SP-404SX
This is the effect of turning the “lo” completely down on the ISOLATOR
This is comparable to a low shelf filter set to maximum cut at 150hz
This is the effect of turning the “mid” completely down on the ISOLATOR
This is comparable to maximum cut with a Q setting of 1.0 at 1200hz
This is the effect of turning the “hi” completely down on the ISOLATOR
This is comparable to a high shelf filter set to maximum cut at 20000hz
What EQUALIZER does
This is plain white noise ran through the SP-404SX
This is the effect of turning the “lo” completely down on the EQUALIZER
This is comparable to a low shelf filter set to -14db with a Q of 1.00 at 20hz
This is the effect of turning the “mid’ completely down on the EQUALIZER
This is comparable to a bell filter set to -24db with a Q of 1.00 at 800hz
This is the effect of turning the “hi” completely down on the EQUALIZER
This is comparable to a high shelf filter with a slope of -18db at 20000hz

Re: ISOLATOR VS EQUALIZER
hey thx , so it is like some people said : isolator cut (high scale) and eq is more precise (little scale)
Re: ISOLATOR VS EQUALIZER (SP-404SX)
Thx for the great visual analysis! That answers a question I didn't know I actually had before I saw the answer

Great post!
it's nice to see people running real analysis to help those a little less tech savvy.

Yes!! and I've done some thinking!! It's even more than that. Based on my knowledge of frequencies that hit hard and sound good from my EDM background as an in the box producer/mastering engineer you want to use ISOLATOR when you are cutting frequencies and you want to use EQUALIZER to boost!!! Based on the different frequencies they control.
I love the SP and the Community! I may come across another data analysis I'd like to perform in the near future.

Great post. Thanks for doing this.
Re: ISOLATOR VS EQUALIZER (SP-404SX)
Anyway to visually represent the difference between the 303 vinyl sim compared to the 404sx? This would be very interesting

why don't you explain its use or anything that this post taught you?
i see a visual representation of something that i use every time i sit at my sp by ear. something that i already knew was going on is represented in front of me. what new information did you gather from this post?

Re: ISOLATOR VS EQUALIZER (SP-404SX)
always knew this, obviously, everyone whos used a sp knows that the isolator is a more intense EQ, but its good to see the actual data like this. THANK YOU
