'oldschool' pitching

sup everybody

i'm new to the site, and have had the 404 for about 4 months now.

its good to see some of my biggest complaints about the machine solved with some handy tricks, but i still got one major issue:

you can change the pitch without changing the bpm/lenght OR you can change the length without changing the pitch... both are destructive for the sound...

but why the hell can't you pitch oldschool style, like on the mpc60 or 3000...

sometimes you just want your sample pitched up or down AND speed up or slow down at the same time...

how can you achieve this without the sample getting ugly? ( i personally hate the timestretching and pitching on the 404, was this better on the 303?)

yea I think most sp 303 & 404 users hate it as well. my suggestion is to pitch shift your samples using software like audacity. Well, thats what I'm gonna do when I need quality pitch shifting-for now I just sample with pitch on already or resample and accept the degradation in quality.

you can try pitchshifting at the same time as you time stretch. This helps somewhat... still not perfect but its better than nothing

Or bring tha samples in already sped up or slowed down....
Sampling from wax is good shit.....
or use some software like my man Cheenergies uptop say...

thanks for the responses, good tips, kinda thought of those solutions, but hoped there was a big thing i overlooked...
