Sp404 vs Sp404sx recording samples - input level question

I have an Sp404sx but recently decided to get an OG sp404. While testing it out i realized that the blue center display does not light up like the 404sx while playing samples into it and does not turn red when the level is too high. My question is - Is this feature present and not working on the OG404 (and do i just have to rely on the peak light), or not present at all, and only a feature on the SX. Any help is much appreciated as I just want to make sure my new OG is working correctly.
